Subordinate Lodges in the Domain of Arizona.

NOGALES LODGE #13

This lodge lies on the border between Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Mexico.  One would not be surprised to learn that many of the members are either active or retired Homeland Security employees.  In recent years they have hosted one of the largest car shows in southern Arizona.  They are the epitome of working in the community.  Their members are active in the local high school band booster clubs, sports activities and the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW).  One of their members was recently honored at the Whitehouse along with other Tuskegee Airmen.  Their Castle Hall is adjacent to the city cemetery where the Dia de los Muertos is celebrated each November 2.  The lodge participates by turning their parking lot into a rummage sale and provides carne asada dinners as fund raisers.  The grand Secretary offers presentations on the day of the dead through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) through University of Arizona Extension.

PHOENIX LODGE #2

Phoenix lodge #2 is right in the heart of the 6th largest US city, Phoenix.  They are in the process of reinventing the Pythian ideal for the 21st century.   They are initiating members who are eager to learn about the order and to serve the community.    Fraternal inner-city growth is among the hardest growth patterns for any fraternal or civic organization.  Their challenge to survive in obtaining  growth is nothing less than heroic.  They are planning a golf tournament for the spring 2009.  It is not hard to find a golf course in Arizona.

PIMA LODGE #47

Pima Lodge is in east Tucson.  They support a bicyclist in the Tour de Tucson each year.  He is a member of the lodge and is referred to as Biker Bob.  Pima #47 has been around since the early 1960’s. Fact is, Toby Dowling is the last remaining Charter Member of the lodge and hence his email address pima47@cox.net.   Pima participates in the Share the Spirit Program in December (STS) and you thought it was a Cadillac.

TEMPE LODGE #26

The Tempe lodge is at the threshold of light rail progress.  Tempe Planning and Development has recently installed the light rail system right by their front door.  They have benefited from the construction both financially and by everyday transportation.  Tempe is one of our Arizona Lodges where a majority of the members reside in the immediate community.  In addition to scheduling the barbeques, meetings, and normal Pythian functions, they lend themselves to cultural events such as concerts and opening their doors to the county as an electioneering polling place or precinct.  They won the State Growth Award in 2007.  Tempe #26 is known for their devotion to the Special Olympics of Northern Arizona.  They are also recognized leaders in serving the veterans of the area.

GREEN VALLEY-SAHUARITA LODGE #85

This is our baby lodge.  We are only three years old.  We meet in Sahuarita, Arizona which is a bedroom community for southern Arizona. They were organized at a carport sale for the benefit of  Casa Hogar Orphanage in Naco, Mexico.   Their theme is lending a hand across the border. There are numerous stories that can be told about this orphanage.  The lodge is like a proud parent with a new child, every chance they have they will show pictures and/or tell stories.  They involve themselves in Turtle racing contests at the lake, civic memorial services on Memorial Day, hosting  parties for the Casa de Esperanza Senior Center and STS toys for the Casa de los Niños.  We participate in the White Elephant Country Fair Days Parade.  Two years ago Sir Red Hollander  was one of the several who walked the three miles of the parade.  Two of the members also drive 75 miles weekly delivering Food for Life meals through the Southern Arizona Aids Foundation (SAAF).
